Sunday morning, Dad had something to show me. Both of his lower legs were broken out with a dark red rash. Dad thought maybe it had something to do with his poor circulation and possible internal bleeding. He had spent most of the weekend tearing the roof off one of our barns. I asked him if he had dropped a crowbar on his legs or had been crawling on his knees on the roof. He assured me that most of his time was spent sitting on his butt. Just the other day he showed up at the house with a bloody face. He'd hit himself in the face with a claw hammer while pulling nails.
When he tried to put his rubber boots back on, they were digging into the raw skin. My brother put two and two together and figured out it was the boots that did the damage. Dad has about five pairs of bib overalls. One pair was extremely long and he was stepping on the pant legs. He had Mom cut them off and she did a very thorough job. The pant legs barely reach to his boot tops now. Dad has always been a farm fashion trend setter. He now has the first pair of Capri bib overalls. As Dad scooted around on the roof, the pant legs hiked up and he had hot rubber boots scraping his skin all day long. He didn't feel the effects until he showered that night.
The doctor gave him some ointment and told him to let the legs air out. Dad does not own a pair of shorts so I loaned him a pair of mine. Otherwise he would be parading around the house for days in his boxers. We've all seen that show. So Dad is now grounded for a few days.
I took these pictures when I spotted Dad on the roof. I figured there would be some blog material there. I had to go get him off the roof last week when a thunderstorm was fast approaching. The first picture is what we call the Back Barn. It is located behind the Front Barn. Those are soybeans surrounding the barn. You'll notice the bobcat sitting under the roof. That is how Dad gets up on the roof. It's hard to keep a good man down. Down off the roof, that is.
I went down my blogroll and visited blog buddies Monday and Tuesday. It took me two days to get to everyone, but I accidentally skipped over you. I'm sorry!! It was not intentional, I assure you.
It is good to be back in the blog world again.
Your dad is such a hearty fella. He's like my Great Aunt Mable whom we just visited. She is 92 and healty as a horse. She takes no prescription meds at all. What a wonder!!
I hope your dad's legs heal up quickly. I'm sure he looks cute in his boxers. :)
Capri overalls for men.... I don't think it will be a fashion trend.

There are so many aspects of this story that are incredible. When he hits 100 you should try to keep him on the ground.
I must go but see you in a couple Jerry.
