This year, I've set about twice as many mouse traps as I have in the past. I've caught fewer mice than I have in years past. I think I finally figured out where they were entering the garage. In fact the last two that I've caught have been very small and caught in between two traps. I don't know what got trapped first, their body or their leg. My guess is it went something like this:
A little mouse gets into my garage.
Mouse: "Hey it's nice and warm in here. Much better than that hole I had out in the corn field."
*sniff, sniff* "I think I smell cheese. Wow! Look here on this grey plastic platform. Ummm! It looks like American Cheese, my favorite! This place is awesome! I think I'll just have me a nibble."
SNAP!! "Ow. This grey thing bit my foot. "Must.Drag.It.With.Me." *pant, pant*
"Maybe I can break it loose by wedging it next to this other grey plastic platform. *pant, pant*
Just.A.Few.More.Feet." *sniff, sniff*. "Hey! Look! More cheese!"
SNAP!!

Well, at least they're dumb enough to keep going after the bait. *grin*

My wife hates mice and this time every year I have the duty of setting traps up in several places around the Ponderosa. However, it's been a couple of years since I've seen one. But, I know the woods surrounding our place is full of them.

I believe I've had days like that.

When I was a kid it was my job to take care of the traps. I hated hearing that "SNAP" sound because it meant dealing with mouse brain goo.

I think you've finally gotten into the mind of a mouse! Not completely sure that's a good thing, Jerry. Just so you know....
Me? I've put the poison out in the garage. I don't have the stomach for the traps out there this year. Now inside? While I don't think I'll have nearly as many as last year, I'll put the traps in here, just to make double sure.
But I'm hopin' the poison is just to tempting and they don't make it past the garage.....

That is one tough, determined mouse.

Okay Jerry, I hate to ask, but I gotta know....do you re-use the traps?

jerry I am dead mouse body phobic, which irritates most farm folk. I throw the entire contraption in the garbage....
I hate mice

those look like expensive traps. I buy the old fashioned kind. That way I don't feel guilty throwing them away once that have mice brains and eyes stuck on them. Yep one time use for me.
